My Background
At Routledge Publishing in London, in 1994, I experimented with formatting books in-house and stumbled upon SGML, the granddaddy of HTML, marking the start of my web career. I developed the first website for Routledge publishing and went on to project manage sites for Sony, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson among many others until I became the website director at Audible.com.
I became a freelancer, dividing my time between building websites in WordPress, and writing and publishing my books, The Alchemy of Loss: A Young Widow’s Transformation (McClelland and Stewart 2008) and Remember the Moon (Lemonbird Press, 2014). Along with promoting my books, I speak on grief, loss and widowhood.
I co-founded the website, Writer.ly, a marketplace for writers seeking editors, designers and other book publishing professionals. We launched Writer.ly in 2011, using social media marketing to promote the site, amassing 72K Twitter and 15K Facebook followers. Although the site shut down in 2014, I continue to maintain the social media channels.
